Drive-Thru Drug Take-Back Event

Bring unused prescription and over-the-counter medication for safe, free disposal at drive-thru Drug Take Back event sites in SW Washington:

DETAILS:

  • –  Any prescription and over-the-counter medication including pills, liquids & inhalers will be accepted for safe, FREE disposal.
  • –  Medications may remain in their original containers and labels do not need to be removed.
  •   Medications not in original containers will be accepted too.
  • –  Vaping devices & e-Cigarettes WITHOUT Batteries will also be accepted for free disposal at all event sites EXCEPT at Cowlitz Indian Tribal Public Safety Department.
  •  Sharps and syringes will be accepted from noncommercial sources ONLY at the PeaceHealth SW Urgent Care event site. Use an approved Sharps container when transporting; if one is not available, use a rigid plastic container with a lid (ex: plastic milk jug) & label the container: WARNING-SHARPS DO NOT RECYCLE
  • – NO prefilled syringes will be accepted for disposal at any event site
  •  For everyone’s safety, participants will remain in vehicles & use a drive-thru process to dispose of unwanted & expired medications
  •  Medicine take-back programs are the only secure and environmentally sound way to dispose of leftover and expired prescription and over-the-counter medication. Thank you for taking part in keeping our community and environment safe and healthy.
  •  This event/activity is not sponsored or endorsed by local school districts.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What medications will be accepted?
    Any prescription & over-the-counter medications including pills, liquids & inhalers will be accepted.
  • What about Sharps & syringes?
    PeaceHealth SW Urgent Care is the ONLY event site accepting Sharps & syringes for disposal from noncommercial sources only. No prefilled syringes will be accepted. Use an approved Sharps container when transporting; if one is not available, use a rigid plastic container with a lid (ex: plastic milk jug) & label the container: WARNING-SHARPS DO NOT RECYCLE
  • Are vape pens & e-cigarettes being accepted?
    All event sites EXCEPT Cowlitz Indian Tribal Public Safety Dept., will collect vape pens & e-cigarettes WITHOUT batteries for disposal. If batteries aren’t removable, check with electronic chain stores to ask if they accept these devices for proper disposal, or contact your local Hazardous Material Transfer Stations to ask if they accept these devices & for additional guidance on proper disposal.
  • How are collected medications disposed of?
    All prescription & over-the-counter medication collected at drug take back events are safely incinerated by the D.E.A.
