The presentation details and the in-person meeting and the Zoom link info are included below. The Meeting Agenda will be sent out through the Coalition email distribution prior to the meeting.

PRESENTATION: CONNECTING COMMUNITIES, BUILDING RESILIENCE

Jessie Spinney (she/her pronouns), Prevention Program Supervisor with YWCA Clark County and Central Vancouver Coalition Steering committee member, will provide a “Connecting Communities and Building Resilience” training that seeks to bridge the gap between sexual violence prevention and youth substance use prevention all while centering a trauma-informed and anti-oppression approach. The training covers the historical context of systemic racism within substance use prevention and policy and how that has created generational trauma and barriers, the intersection of trauma from sexual violence and substance use as a coping mechanism, followed by ways to ensure our prevention work recognizes these dynamics and is done in a way that is trauma-responsive and works to dismantle systems of oppression.
